Photo: #Gospel vocalist Tom Tipton celebrates his 75th birthday June 12, 2008, and 50 years in music including performances here at his home church, Lord of Life Lutheran in Plymouth, a Twin Cities suburb. Tipton, a Washington, D.C. native started singing at age 5 under the direction of his mother, a music teacher and choir director. He moved to Minnesota 40 years ago to work with Senator Hubert Humphrey and then started his own business while continuing his performing.
