This week, Minnesota marks its 150th birthday.

Fifty years ago, when the state turned 100, efforts to preserve the state's historic sites were just getting started.

Morning Edition host Cathy Wurzer talked with former Minnesota Historical Society director Russell Fridley about those early preservation efforts.
