The push to make Minnesota an all-Indian state

St. Paul, Minn. — Minnesota officially became a state in 1858. But 16 years before that, there was another proposal for statehood. And it would have created a much different Minnesota.

Host Mary Lucia and reporter Nikki Tundel discuss the little-known Doty Treaty, which called for an all-Indian state in southern Minnesota.
