World Asthma Day

St. Paul, Minn. — Today is World Asthma Day. Asthma affects nearly 23 million people Americans, and more than 6 million of those are children. In Minnesota, one in 15 children has asthma. It is a major cause of school absenteeism and child hospitalization.

Morning Edition's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Dr. Gail Brottman, a pediatric pulmonologist and an asthma expert at the Hennepin COunty Medical Center in Minneapolis.
