Star Tribune denies reports it is near bankruptcy

by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public Radio

St. Paul, Minn. — The Star Tribune is denying a story in yesterday morning's New York Post that it is close to bankruptcy.

By Sunday afternoon, Star Tribune publisher Chris Harte had released a statement declaring the Star Tribune had "sufficient liquidity," and is not behind on any of its debt payments, directly refuting the The Post's report.

The Post did have one thing right in its story. The Star Tribune has hired Wall Street firm the Blackstone Group to help them evaulate financial situation.

David Brauer joined Tom Crann to talk about the financial health of Minnesota's largest newspaper.
