Putting your medical records online
by Dr. Jon Hallberg, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Minnesota is a leader in the world of electronic medical records. As Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich wrote in a column in yesterday's Star Tribune, nearly all of Minnesota's hospitals, and close to two-thirds of primary care clinics, are on board with electronic records.
But there's a movement to take electronic records one step further. Companies like Google and Microsoft want consumers to keep their medical records online, where we can access them anytime and virtually anywhere. Google is promising patients complete control over their medical data.
Medical analyst Dr. Jon Hallberg joined Tom Crann to discuss the next step in electronic medical record keeping.
