Wounded Minnesota vet to receive new home

St. Paul, Minn. — A Twin Cities area soldier who was injured in Iraq will get a new home, thanks to a national organization called Homes for Our Troops.

Sgt. Marcus Kuboy is a lifelong Minnesotan who was hurt a year ago while serving with the Minnesota National Guard in Fallujah.

A roadside bomb went off underneath his Humvee. Kuboy broke his back, arm and jaw, and got a bone infection that could still claim one of his legs. He's had eight surgeries in the first nine months after the blast.

The group Homes for Our Troops was started four years ago to build handicapped-accessible homes for military men and women who have been injured.

Kuboy's will be the first home the group builds in Minnesota. It's also being built as a service project, along with another house in Colorado, to coincide with the upcoming Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
