Protests are Olympic tradition
by Nikki Tundel, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton says President Bush should boycott the opening ceremonies at the Beijing Olympics in August. And she's not the only one.
World leaders and human rights advocates -- as well as lots and lots of bloggers -- are calling for countries to refrain from this summer's Olympic celebration because of concerns over China's human rights record.
Of course, the Olympics have long been a political stage. Current host Mary Lucia and reporter Nikki Tundel discuss the history of Olympic boycotts and protests.
