Public meetings set on east metro groundwater contamination

March 3, 2008

Public meetings begin this week to update east metro residents on new exposure limits for a chemical once manufactured by 3M that has been found in the area's drinking water.

Last week, the health department concluded the chemical PFBA is less toxic than previously thought.

So the department raised the drinking water exposure limit for the chemical from one part per billion to seven parts per billion.

MPR's Steven John talked to Minnesota Public Radio health reporter Lorna Benson about PFBA and other 3M-manufactured chemicals in east metro groundwater.
