Death by drinking

The rate of binge drinking by young people in Minnesota is among the worst in the nation. Young people on college campuses and in rural towns are risking their lives -- at least four people have died due to alcohol in the last few months.

MPR video: What does it mean to binge drink?

In Minnesota almost 51 percent of people age 18 to 24 in the state's metro areas admitted to binge drinking in a recent survey. Among their rural counterparts that number jumps to 60 percent, according to figures from the 2005 Minnesota Survey of Adult Substance Abuse.
