DNR to meet with hunting, fishing and conservation groups

St. Paul, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources meets with hunting, fishing and conservation groups in its annual stakeholder round table in St. Cloud Friday and Saturday.

It is the 17th year for the meeting, and this year the agency is focusing on bioenergy. The agency expects a growing demand for production of biofuels from the state's forests and prairies. That has implications for wildlife habitat, water quality and other ecological issues.

There is also likely to be a lively discussion about the DNR's proposal to reduce the daily walleye limit from six to four.

The annual meeting brings together people interested in natural resource issues from various points of view. Officials say it helps the DNR shape its policies.
