MSP flights back on track

Flights are now running on time at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Minneapolis — Airport spokesman Pat Hogan said runways have reopened, after hazardous weather conditions snarled air traffic and cancelled nearly 100 flights Sunday. Hogan said several hundred stranded passengers spent the night at the airport, and will now try to get to their destinations.

"It's going to be a very busy terminal, and I think you end up having some people who maybe won't take the most direct flight to where they want to go, but people can get pretty creative in trying to find a flight that will get them there eventually," said Hogan. "So it could still be a long day of travel for some people, but hopefully everybody will make it where they want to be for the holiday."

A Northwest Airlines spokesman says Northwest canceled more than 30 flights nationwide Sunday, a third of them in the Twin Cities. Regional carriers Pinnacle and Mesaba canceled about 80 flights. On Sunday, some arriving flights were about three hours late and departing flights were delayed by about four hours. The longest delays were to JFK, Newark and Chicago.
