'Lessening Fear Through Creativity'
by Larissa Anderson, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — A public art project, called "Lessening Fear Through Creativity" opens Friday at the Minneapolis Public Library. It is designed to get people to consider panhandlers in a new light.
The exhibit features portraits of nine homeless people, the cardboard signs they used on the street to raise money, and an artist's interpretation of that sign.
These new signs are hung next to the original cardboard version and a portrait of the person who made it.
Reporter Larissa Anderson talked to some of the people involved in the exhibit for a story that will air on this week's edition of In the Loop which asks the question: "Charity, What gives?"
