Business delegate shares his observations of Indiaby Tom Crann, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — Wednesday is day five of Gov. Pawlenty's trade mission in India. The delegation of 73 state officials and Minnesota business leaders is in Bangalore at the moment. That city is a hub for information technology companies from the U.S. and around the world.
Some Indian info-tech companies are growing as much as 50 percent a year. That presents a big opportunity for at least one Minnesota company.
New Boundary Technologies of Minneapolis makes software that protects sensative data stored on computers, like the ones that fill Bangalore's corporate campuses.
Kim Pearson, president and CEO of New Boundary Technologies, is on the trade mission. Pearson says he's surprised at just how fast India's middle class is growing, and how far the country still has to come in building roads and reliable power lines.
MPR's Tom Crann spoke with Pearson.
