St. Paul, Minn. — John Vanderslice grew up in Florida and Georgia before eventually moving to Potomac Maryland. He took piano lessons as a child, and by eighth grade he had learned to play guitar. He released three well-received albums with the band MK Ultra and in 2000 his solo debut album, Mass Suicide Occult Figurines, was recorded in his own studio, Tiny Telephone which he started in 1997.

With a show at the 7the Street Entry to support his latest CD Emerald City, John Vanderslice stopped by The Current studio for a one-on-one conversation and to perform a few songs.

Songs performed: "Numbered Lithograph," "The Tower," and "White Dove."
