The Minnesota Orchestra has named Michael Henson as its new president and CEO. Henson currently is managing director and CEO of the Bournemouth Symphony in England.
St. Paul, Minn. — Michael Henson took over Bournemouth eight years ago as it faced close to $2 million annual operating deficit. Since then, the orchestra has balanced its budget, increased audiences, and issued 45 recordings which earned six Grammy nominations.
Henson will replace Tony Woodcock, who stepped down to run the New England Conservatory of Music. Henson will move to Minnesota in February 2008.
