Minneapolis bridge closed for safety inspection
by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public RadioSeptember 18, 2007
Minneapolis — If your travel plans are supposed to take you over the Lowry Avenue bridge in Minneapolis this week, you might need to make new plans.
The span, connecting North and Northeast Minneapolis, will be closed during the day, most of this week while officials inspect it. While the two-lane bridge is closed, Hennepin County is recommending drivers use the Mississippi River crossing at West Broadway Ave.
All Things Considered host Tom Crann talked with Jake Bronder, a bridge engineer for Hennepin County.
