Film opens a window on Minneapolis rock history

Twenty years ago Twin/Tone Records, a label credited with launching a host of Minneapolis bands, videotaped a weeks worth of concerts at the Seventh Street Entry at the First Avenue night club.

The cameras captured bands and musicians just about to burst onto the national scene, including the Replacements and Husker Du.

A 90 minute compilation called "7 Nights at the Entry" will screen at the opening of the Sound Unseen Film Festival in Minneapolis.

Paul Stark, a co-founder of Twin/Tone is the executive producer of the film. He says the taping was somewhat of an experiment.

In addition to Husker Du and the Replacements, the film features such bands as the Dads, Safety Last, Things that fall apart, and Wilma and the Wilburs.
