FEMA to assess state's flood damage

St. Paul, Minn. — Federal Emergency Management Agency officials are in southeastern Minnesota preparing to assess damage from last weekend's flash flooding.

Officials will fan out across the area tomorrow. However, their arrival does not mean an immediate influx of federal aid and some communities are getting desperate.

Minnesota Public Radio's Mark Steil met FEMA officials in Rochester and joined MPR's Tom Crann on the phone from our Rochester Bureau.
