A new approach to farm policy

May 23, 2007

St. Paul, Minn. — The House Agricultural Committee in Washington will be marking up the 2007 farm bill tomorrow. The committee is chaired by U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, DFL-Minn.

While Peterson has said he expects the framework of the bill to look a lot like the last farm bill from five years ago, some members are hoping to see big changes in the approach to farm policy, one of whom is U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with Rep. Kind about Farm21, a proposal he sponsored in the House which would take farm policy in a new direction.
