Minnesota Legislature's 2007 session

Budget bills and poison pills

April 16, 2007

St. Paul, Minn. — The state budget bills in the Minnesota House are expected to hit the chamber's floor this week at the Capitol.

The DFL House leadership has already signaled its support for increasing income taxes on top earners and using the money mainly for lowering property taxes. Gov. Tim Pawlenty has said he'd veto such a plan if it gets to his desk.

MPR's Perry Finelli talked with Minnesota Public Radio Capitol Reporter Tom Scheck for a look at the week ahead at the legislature.
