Tessie's treasures

by Jim Bickal, Minnesota Public Radio

The Gluek mansion at 2447 Bryant Avenue South in Minneapolis has been a source of mystery and speculation in that neighborhood for years.

Minneapolis — The huge Georgian revival home with its distinctive two-story carriage house is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Since 1939, it has been the home of Tessie Bowman. She died last August at the age of 89 after falling off her bicycle. The 6,300 square foot house she left behind was filled with antiques and other items Bowman had collected throughout her life.

The man in charge of sorting through all of her belongings in preparation for this weekend's estate sale is Tony Scornavacco. He's the co-owner of H & B Gallery in Minneapolis. Minnesota Public Radio's Jim Bickal talked with Scornavocco about the process of going through Bowman's possessions.
