Minnesota's invisible homeless youth
by Larissa Anderson, Minnesota Public RadioMarch 14, 2007
St. Paul, Minn. — On a cold Friday night in January, Alex Nelson and Katie Nichol prepare for a shift of street outreach in Minneapolis. They fill their bags with gloves, hats and other resources for youth on the streets.
Both Nelson and Nichol are outreach veterans, and they have a ground-level understanding of what our homeless youth are facing. They talk about the work they do and why they think homeless youth are invisible.
