St. Paul, Minn. — Two Minnesota state senators have told Minnesota Public Radio News that comedian and Al Franken has informed them that he will run for the U.S. Senate in 2008.

Franken is the first DFLer to enter the race against Republican Norm Coleman. Cathy Wurzer gets the story from Minnesota Public Radio's Tom Scheck.
