Tim Brewster meets Minnesotaby Art Hughes, Minnesota Public Radio
Minneapolis — Tim Brewster promises a physically tough and academically sound Gopher football team.
Brewster made his first public Minnesota appearance on Wednesday after signing an agreement to coach the University of Minnesota football team. He says he wants to make sure players from within the state don't have a reason to go elsewhere.
"We're going to start here first," he said. "Every kid in the state of Minnesota that we feel can win a Big Ten championship and take us to the Rose Bowl we're going to recruit. I'm going to personally recruit the state of Minnesota."
Brewster has signed an agreement with the university worth $1 million a year plus bonuses for five years.
He starts immediately in the job, replacing Glen Mason who was fired after the December 29th loss at the Insight Bowl.
