The Future of Northwest Airlines
Northwest and Mesaba discuss a merger
December 21, 2006
St. Paul, Minn. — Northwest and Mesaba airlines are looking at a merger. Mesaba, a carrier that flys regional flights for Northwest and is operating in bankruptcy, has been struggling to stay afloat since Eagan-based Northwest declared bankruptcy last year. The companies say they hope this move to consolidate gives them a more secure financial future. Cathy Wurzer talked with Barbara Beyer, president of AVMARK aviation consulting firm, about what a merger would mean for the airlines.
