The line for the presidency starts hereby Nikki Tundel, Minnesota Public Radio
The 2008 election may be 23 months away. But presidential hopefuls are already hitting the campaign trail.
St. Paul, Minn. — There are six days left until Christmas. But that's not the only countdown on people's minds these days. Some are more concerned with the fact that the 2008 U.S. presidential election will be held just 686 days from now.
The election will be the first in decades without an incumbent president or vice president in the running. So with the race wide open, everyone who's anyone -- or at least thinks he's anyone -- is trying to get an early edge. At this point, more than two dozen people have either announced their candidacies or are seriously thinking about doing so.
Reporter Nikki Tundel and DJ Mary Lucia talk about who's in, who's out and who's still thinking the whole thing over.
