St. Paul, Minn. — The Independence Party will retain major party status for at least the next election cycle because Peter Hutchinson received more than five percent of the vote in the Governor's race. But his 6.4 percent support is the lowest yet for an Indpendence Party candidate for Governor.
Tim Penny got 16 percent of the vote four years ago and party founder Jesse Ventura claimed 37 percent of the vote when he was elected in 1998. Cathy Wurzer spoke with Peter Hutchinson about the future of the Independence Party.
