Tenor Richard Troxell is best known for singing the role of Pinkerton in Martin Scorsese's 1995 film version of "Madame Butterfly." This week he's appearing as the title character in Minnesota Opera's production of Jacques Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffman." Troxell says Hoffman is one of his favorite roles because it's dramatic and vocally challenging.

In a conversation with Minnesota Public Radio's Steve Staruch, Troxell talks about the joy of being a tenor and how he wants to eliminate the fear factor some people have about opera.
