Arnold Steinhardt has had a complicated, 63-year-long relationship with the violin. The longtime first violinist of the renowned Guarneri String Quartet traveled to Minnesota to help open the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota's 2006-07 season on Sunday. He's also just come out with a new memoir, "Violin Dreams," which earned a starred review in Publisher's Weekly.
In conversation with Minnesota Public Radio's Steve Staruch, Steinhardt touched on boyhood, Beethoven, conductor Szell, and the violin.
