Putting down roots after Katrina
by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public RadioSt. Paul, Minn. — This week there's been a lot of attention on New Orleans around the first anniversary of hurricane Katrina. In the wake of the storm and flooding there, many people were displaced to all over the country, including here in Minnesota.
When their house got flooded, George Augustin and his wife found themselves here in the Twin Cities. George found a job here, and dry accommodations at a hotel in Eden Prairie.
Augustin and his wife are still here, and putting down roots in Minnesota. MPR's Tom Crann checked in with him to see how things are going, one year after Katrina.
