Albert Lea loses Love

St. Paul, Minn. — A beloved -- if controversial -- newspaper columnist in Albert Lea has died. Love Cruikshank was known for her outspoken newspaper columns, and her wholehearted embrace of life and community.

Her career at the Albert Lea Tribune spanned seven decades, most recently as a columnist with a decidedly liberal point of view.

Local historian Joan Claire Graham was a friend of Cruikshank, and she was host for Cruikshank's memorial service last weekend. Graham spoke with MPR's Tom Crann about Love's legacy.
