Commentator David Brauer on Mike Hatch's beef with the Star Tribune

by Greta Cunningham, Minnesota Public Radio

St. Paul, Minn. — Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch is not talking to reporters about his attack on the Star Tribune for a story it hasn't printed. Hatch is accusing the newspaper of "sleazy" reporting and had no comment when MPR reached him this morning. The DFL-endorsed candidate for governor has filed a complaint with the Minnesota News Council, an independent body that reviews allegations of unfair media coverage.

David Brauer is our regular media commentator here on All Things Considered. He says Hatch's complaint stems from three areas of questions posed to him by Star Tribune reporters -- all relating to a parking ticket Hatch received in December 2003 in a Minneapolis park with a bad reputation.
