Some pundits are calling George W. Bush's latest selection for White House Press secretary, Tony Snow, smart public relations. Midmorning takes a historical look at the difficult job of representing the president.

W. Dale Nelson: Author of "Who Speaks for the President: The White House Press Secretary from Cleveland to Clinton" (2000). He was also a White House correspondent for the Associated Press during part of the Reagan administration.

Carl Cannon: White House correspondent for National Journal. He is a co-author of "Boy Genius, a biography of White House aide Karl Rove," reissued earlier this year to reflect the 2004 elections.
