Gopher women's basketball program in disarrayby Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public Radio
St. Paul, Minn. — Just two years after a Final Four appearance, the Gopher women's basketball program is stinging from the sudden loss of five players in less than two weeks. All five of the underclassmen have decided to quit or transfer since the end of the season.
Sophomore forward Natasha Williams is the latest to announce her wish to leave, on the heels of center Liz Podominick and leading scorer Jamie Broback.
The team was already losing several seniors to graduation, so this means Minnesota now has only three players left who stepped on the court this season.
Ray Richardson, who has been covering the story for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, talked with MPR's Cathy Wurzer about the situation.
