Amending state Constitution is not uncommon

A proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages and civil unions is one of several consitutional amendments under consideration at the Legislature this year. To better understand the amendment process, MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with Fred Morrison, a professor of law at the University of Minnesota. Professor Morrison was the research director for the commission that redrafted the state Constitution in the early 1970s.
