House acts on major legislation
by Tom Crann, Minnesota Public RadioJuly 28, 2005
Congress is trying to wrap up several big legislative items before leaving for its August recess. Late last night, the House of Representatives narrowly approved the Central American Free Trade Agreement, or CAFTA. Just this afternoon, House members approved a massive Energy Bill, which the Senate plans to take up tomorrow. A long-awaited Transportation Bill should get a vote this week as well. Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., and Rep. Gil Gutknecht, R-Minn., spoke with Minnesota Public Radio's Tomm Cran about how these important bills could affect Minnesotans.
