Dr. Daniel Schultz on testing medical devices

Guidant corporation is warning doctors that some of its pacemakers may malfunction, possibly leading to serious health problems. The company says it's warning doctors about certain pacemakers because a sealant on a small number of them may degrade, allowing moisture to get into the device. The U.S Food and Drug Administration's Dr. Daniel Schultz works with companies like Guidant to troubleshoot medical devices before they go on the market and says there are many ways to test how a product will age over time.
