Shakespeare gets groovy at the Guthrie
by Cathy Wurzer, Minnesota Public RadioMarch 18, 2005
The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis is staging a new production of the Shakespeare comedy, "As You Like It," with a twist -- this version is set in the late 1960s. Most of the action in the play takes place in a forest, that's seen as an escape from the civil unrest of the time. That storyline inspired director Joe Dowling to set this new version in another time of unrest. Dowling told MPR's Cathy Wurzer they decided on "As You Like It" because it was time for some amusement.
