A conversation with David Cronenberg

by Euan Kerr, Minnesota Public Radio

Film director David Cronenberg is best known for making horror movies. His credits include some big screen hits, including Scanners, The Dead Zone, and The Fly. But Cronenberg won't be pigeon-holed. He sees himself more as a filmmaker who explores the human condition. His latest film, Spider, recently opened in the Twin Cities. It stars screen heartthrob Ralph Fiennes as a schizophrenic. Nicknamed Spider, Fiennes' character moves into a halfway house after a long period in a secure facility. Cronenberg told MPR's Euan Kerr he wanted to tell the story of one particular man.
