Minnesota Sounds

What are the sounds that symbolize your community?

What is Monle?

Monle (MAH-nul) is a four-track, "non-linear" sound-recorder and editor for the iPhone, iPad, and certain versions of the iPod Touch. Monle gives you the portable power to produce radio stories, interviews, sound pieces, and even music.

MPR wants to hear them, and we need you to help share them with listeners around the state.

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you can use the Monle app for audio recording and editing.

All within the app, you can record the sounds of your special place, mix them together (if you want), and send them directly to us.

Or you can use your own recording and editing equipment. Specific details are below, along with some helpful tips.

Minnesota Sounds challenge #3

What is the sound of your weekend?

Fireworks? Check. Cookout? Check. Ambulance siren after you held on to those fireworks too long? Hopefully not check.

If you're gassing up your boat for a trip to the cabin, why not record the engine or the distinct "cha-chunk" your trailer makes when you take a left turn.

From the crinkling of a bag of chips to a rousing version of “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall,” road trips are full of sounds. Perhaps you're into cycling or baseball or taking in the World Cup (vuvuzezela anyone)? Maybe you're going to the farmers market.

What does that sound like?

Submit your sounds and an explanation of why you chose it here. Or upload it using Monle using the APM call outs button.
