What, Future Tense is a music show now?

The last couple of Future Tense segments featured veteran rockers Prince and R.E.M.
On Monday, I discussed the implications of Prince offering his new album for free inside a U.K. newspaper with Eliot Van Buskirk from Listening Post (RealAudio - MP3 - iTunes). Eliot claims Prince's move is evidence that CDs in the digital age are almost worthless -- they're just copies of originals and we all have the power to make our own copies.
Today, I had the pleasure of talking with the head of the R.E.M. fan club (which is part of the R.E.M. organization in Athens, GA) about the band's recent residency in Dublin (RealAudio - MP3 - iTunes). R.E.M. encouraged fans to bring their cell phones and cameras to five "working rehearsals," then post the videos and photos to the Internet. To wit:
