Future Tense: New blog tracks MySpace friends of 2008 candidates
Posted at 9:11 AM on February 20, 2007 by Jon Gordon

You might have missed this President's Day Future Tense (RealAudio - MP3 - iTunes), since you probably don't sit around listening to the radio on holidays. But that's what Internet-enabled time-shifting is for, right?
2008 Presidential hopefuls believe that Internet social networks like MySpace can help create excitement, rally the troops and raise campaign money. A new blog, techPresident, is tracking the number of MySpace 'friends' each candidate has managed to collect.
Upon hearing this report, one listener took me to task for admitting to the guest that I had never heard of Rep. Ron Paul (R - TX). He is the GOP candidate with the most MySpace friends. Am I really out of the loop for never having run across this guy? I follow politics somewhat. I even watch Hardball from time to time. do I deserve punishment?
