From my inbox: Smell my tires
Posted at 12:18 PM on January 16, 2007 by Jon Gordon
Public relations folk, most of whom are quite hard-working and helpful, send me pitches for some silly products. This is the goofiest of 2007 so far.
Jon,
After more than a year’s worth of research, Kumho (pronounced Koom-O) Tires has brought the world’s first scented tire to the United States. The lavender-scented, all-season ECSTA DX tire will be targeted towards female drivers of family sedans (Camry, Outback, Accord) and, in later versions, feature orange and jasmine scents. A recent study revealed the top choices for men to be "BBQ, Hot Dogs and Popcorn".
Popcorn, BBQ and hot dog-scented tires? Hahahahahahahahaha! No way.
If you would like to schedule an interview, need product photography (tire surrounded by lavender flowers) or would like small tire sections to smell for yourself, please let me know and we can accommodate any media request. Consumers looking for more information should visit www.kumhotireusa.com.
Um yeah, please rush some tire samples that smell like hot dogs. But hey, if you really want to know more, visit http://www.kumhousa.com/News/News2006.asp#dec21 . By the way, the photo of the tire in a lush lavender patch, from the Kumho Web site, carries the name of "dx-stinky.jpg." Just sayin'.
