Above normal snow season for some

Many citizens are hoping that we are near the end of the snow season. Hopefully that will be the case, though a number of observers have occasionally reported over 20 inches in April.

Here is a look at the snow season of 2012-2013 so far for those areas that have received well above normal snowfall totals. With some of these numbers it is no wonder that a rapid spring snow melt would bring the threat of flooding.

Further the liquid water content of the snow pack remains high, ranging from 3 to 6 inches in many areas. That is a lot of water to runoff over frozen ground.
