Thursday morning, May 26th brought a record-tying low temperature of just 28 degrees F to International Falls, MN and a low of 25 degrees F to Embarrass, MN, the lowest reading in the nation that day.
Friday morning, May 27th brought even more cold to northeastern Minnesota communities. Bruno set a new record low of 30 degrees F, while Silver Bay and Crane Lake also set record lows with 28 degrees F. It was even colder at Ely where a record low of 27 degrees F was set. Orr and Grand Portage were the coldest in the state with record lows of 26 degrees F.
This may be the last gasp of cold for a long time as temperatures are expected to warm into the 70s and 80s F next week.
