Denver Foothills: 46 inches...Twin Cities: 9th wettest October

The final snowfall totals are in for the Denver Mega Storm. The numbers are staggering.

As much as 46 inches of snow fell in the foothills west of Denver.

They're used to dealing with big snow in the Denver area. Snow in October is common in Denver, but the monthly average snowfall is only 4.1 inches. The 17.2" snowfall "officially" recorded in Denver will go down as at least the 5th snowiest October on record.

Top 10 wettest Octobers for area locations:

Your spongy lawn tells the local weather story this month. October precipitation has been in the top 10 for The Twin Cities, St. Cloud and Eau Claire. In the Twin Cities we've recorded 5.39" this month. That's over 3" above average and ranks as the 9th wettest October on record.

The weekend looks drier and sunnier. Saturday will be breezy and cool with a high in the 40s. The winds should drop a bit by trick or treat time. Sunday looks downright beautiful with some passing clouds and sun mixed in. It will be milder with a high well up into the 50s.

I report daily precipitation totals for Fillmore TWP in Fillmore County, MN. Just totaled October rainfall and got 8.03"
