North Shore snow

We know spring weather in Minnesota can be dicey. But if you live near Lake Superior, it can be downright crazy.

Today's spring storm is bringing cool and blustery conditions statewide, but it's a full blast of winter in the arrowhead and in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Heavy wind driven snow is falling in these areas, and it's beginning to pile up. We have reports of up to 6" of snow near Grand Marais, and it's still snowing this afternoon. Lutsen has picked up 4" as of early afternoon. There is also heavy snow in the Houghton-Hancock area of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Winter storm warnings are in effect until 6pm tonight.

Look for the weather to improve over the next 24 hours, but until then it will look and feel more like March around Lake Superior.

6:18pm update: The winter storm warning has been extended until 9pm for the North Shore. Snow totals may now end up in the 6" to 10" range in some areas.
