Once we broke past 32 degrees in the Twin Cities on Saturday morning (after experiencing 5 below zero on Friday morning), we soared well into the 40s.
This very mild Saturday was followed by temperatures well above normal on Sunday. Chilly air is waiting in the wings for your Groundhog Day.

In south Minneapolis we saw a flock of robins on Saturday morning. They were around for an hour or two. No mistake, it was a crowd of them flitting around in the trees.
How did they get here at this time of year? Were they blown in on warm winds? Or, are they just adventurous?
Hi Mark:
Nice to know the robins like your yard! I had a flock in early January too.
I'm told some robins do winter over in the area. We had a dicussion about this on last weeks Jet Streaming podcast. Check it out under programs, I think we came up with some decent answers.

Jason DeRusha did a piece on this for WCCO a week ago. Basically, if they can find sufficient food, they stay.
