Winter Hazard Awareness week is purposely planned months in advance for early November. Looking at historical climate data, experts agree that to wait later in the month you migt be looking foolish as winter weather already played the first round. Too early and you might have highs in the lower 70s, like last Tuesday.
The Wnter Weather Advisory highlighted the perils of highway and pedestrian travel with the slightest coating of ice. Surely, many of us have had those moments on the highway when we got lucky after hitting an unexpected patch of ice. SLOW DOWN.
On day three of Winter Hazard Awareness Week we focus on fire safety. Common sense prevails for the most part. We learned from our expert guest on last week's Jetstreaming podcast that wood burning fireplaces are very energy inefficient. Nice to create a cozy atmosphere, not efficient heating.
Dampish today. Precipitation on Thursday. Chilly Saturday.
